Dey Got Nukes, We Want Nukes... All God's Chillen Need Nukes

File this under, "explain to me again why Iran shouldn't have nuclear weapons."

The [UK] government has been accused of covering up the sale of 20 tonnes of heavy water to Israel for its nuclear programme in the early 1950s.

This story on Israel's nuclear stockpile has been dribbling out for years now. Is it hylocritical that the US goes against Iraq and Iran for wanting nukes when everyone now knows that Israel has them and has had them for over 30 years or so?

I once asked an Americna supporter of Israel, "how much of the billions of US tax dollars sent to Israel is used on the upkeep, maintenance, or upgrade of these WMDs?" I never got an answer--just the old, tired rhetoric and red herring of "anti-semitic" talk.

I also heard a caller (has my question made the rounds on the Web?) on a radio phone-in program ask one of our Congresspeople how much US aid money was used by Israel to do this. The politican did not know either... shouldn't they?

I am willing to discuss this question rationally and seriously.
