Who Does This Guy Think He Is?

The continuing story surrounding the PlameGate scandal is the role that VP Dick "Darth" Cheney played. While prosecutor FitzPatrick may be hoping that indicted liar, obstructionist, and traitor, I. "Scooter" Libby, may hope to get Libby to "roll" over on his former boss in a plea bargain, questions swirl about what Cheney knew, when he knew it, and what he did about it (if he did know).

While these questions might be answered in the long run, there is still the immediate question about what Cheney's role is in running this country. According to the constitution the VP is simply a right-hand aide to the President, a double who will take over should the President be unable to carry out his duties.

Cheney's role, though, has changed the way that the VP operates in the white house. As the following article shows, Cheney has become the powerhouse within the WH, dictating foreign and defense policy. In other words: Cheney speaks and it i done, rather than the President himself setting out policy and making command judgments. This situation is a very serious threat to the freedom of our government--Cheney has overstepped his bounds as VP and has instead interjected himself into the every day running of the Executive branch.
